EVENT HISTORY
The Casa Pacifica Angels auxiliary was founded in 1990, four years before Casa Pacifica opened its doors to serve our region’s abused, neglected, and at-risk children and youth. The group was established specifically to help raise funds toward the $10 million needed to build Casa Pacifica Centers for Children & Families. After hosting several successful Angels Balls, the Angels decided to expand their fundraising activities to include a wider spectrum of the community, and so the Wine, Food & Brew Festival was conceived.
From its first humble beginnings in 1994 (the same year Casa Pacifica opened its doors) at the historic Pierpont Inn in Ventura to its beachside home at the Mandalay Beach Resort in Oxnard (2001 – 2006) to the present grounds of the beautiful and spacious California State University, Channel Islands campus in Camarillo, the Festival has become the premiere wine, food, and brew event in Ventura County. Attendance has grown from a few hundred Festival goers in the early years to over 4,500 at the 2019 event. Volunteer numbers have grown from the dedicated and visionary efforts of a few women to a Festival Committee of nearly 30 individuals, supported by hundreds of other volunteers who sell tickets; distribute marketing, vendor, and sponsorship packets; solicit silent auction donations; provide the manual labor to set up the event during the days prior to, as well as clean up the day after the Festival; and volunteer in various jobs the day of the event.
